<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for providing detection of synchronization mark based on location of extreme value distance metric. <P>SOLUTION: By calculating distance metric between received signal and ideal version of the received signal anticipated when reading a synchronization mark, the synchronization mark in the received signal is detected. The distance metric is calculated for multiple locations in a search window, the distance metric of an approximate extreme value is decided in the search window, and the synchronization mark is detected based on the location of the distance metric of approximate extreme value. The distance metric includes sum of squared difference or Euclidean distance between the received signal and the ideal version of the received signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
