<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: there is difficulty in concurrently performing relay transmission of both excitation light and signal light due to a high transmission loss in the case of an optical combiner that performs an input-output relay transmission of the signal light and a cladding-pumped fiber core light upon the incidence of excitation light into an inner clad of a double-clad fiber; and also there is possibility of destruction of an excitation light source by signal light leaking from a fusion connection if an output of a laser is increased. <P>SOLUTION: An optical fiber for light signal transmission is located in the center of an excitation light collecting pipe tapered at an end of a glass pipe and a plurality of optical fibers for excitation light transmission are inserted between the excitation light collecting pipes and a light signal transmission pipe, which the members are subsequently bundled together as an optical combiner. The optical combiner is capable of providing a low-loss connection and low light intensity of leaking signal light because the excitation light is collected into the tapered section and because for the signal light, a fiber diameter can be maintained without size reduction and the core can be located in the center of the cross section. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
