<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cause a paper feed rotary printing paper not to be slacken also when an impression cylinder is moved in a standby position separated from a plate cylinder. <P>SOLUTION: A rotary press includes: a dancer roller 8 for absorbing the slack of the rotary printing paper when the impression cylinder 4 on a printing unit is separated from the plate cylinder 5 between a sheet feeder 2 and the printing unit 3a so as to be freely moved in a direction of absorbing this slack; fixing means for fixing this dancer roller in an intermediate part in a moving direction so as to be detachably attached; and a phase adjustment mechanism for adjusting the running phase of the rotary printing paper to the printing unit and also adjusting the paper feed pass of the rotary printing paper in a direction of returning a deviation to the fixed position of the dancer roller with the impression cylinder rotatively brought into contact with the plate cylinder after size exchange on the sheet feeder.
