A method and apparatus for paging terminals are provided in the present invention, wherein the method comprises the following steps: distributing paging parameters for each user group allocated in advance, wherein the default setting state for each user terminal of each user group is an idle state; and initiating grouping paging awakening according to the paging parameters to realize data transmission with the awakened user terminal. In the embodiments of the invention, the default state for user terminals is the idle state, and paging is carried out on the user terminals of each user group in turn, therefore, the utilization efficiency of the system resources is improved, services can be provided for more user terminals, and the processing load and the energy consumption of the user terminals are reduced simultaneously. |
