FIELD: technological processes. ^ SUBSTANCE: method of casting a billet with cross section area of less than 500 cm2 includes measurement of a melt steel level in a crystalliser using an eddy current sensor and its electromagnet mixing, billet drawing from a crystalliser, its cooling in the secondary and end zones of cooling, cutting of the billet. The secondary cooling zone is arranged higher along the casting direction relative to the end cooling zone and ends at the distance of 2 m from it. The end cooling zone with length of 3-8 m is arranged at the section that is distant by 15-45 m from the meniscus of the melt steel in the crystalliser. In the secondary cooling zone water is supplied to the billet in amount of 0.1-0.8 l/kg of steel, and temperature of the billet surface at the inlet to the end cooling zone is maintained as 900-1200C. In the end zone of cooling the density of water flow makes 20-300 l/(minm2). Casting speed is adjusted on the basis of produced steel composition and casting temperature so that the section, at which the share of the solid phase in the middle of the ingot makes 0.3-0.99, is in the end cooling zone. ^ EFFECT: invention eliminates porosity in the central part of the ingot. ^ 8 cl, 1 dwg, 2 tbl |
