The structure (6) has a housing accommodating a gas generator (5) and a gas bag i.e. knee airbag, of a front seat passenger or a driver of a vehicle. The gas bag is depressed by the gas generator to an unfolded state. An air bag module is integrated into a recess (9) of the structure such that a shroud is integrated into the structure. The gas generator and the gas bag are arranged in the recess. An instrument panel is integrated into the gas generator and the gas bag. The housing is made of magnesium and/or aluminum.
