<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focal plane shutter that suppresses variation in the speed of a curtain, and an optical device having the same. <P>SOLUTION: The focal plane shutter according to the present embodiment comprises: an electromagnet 70B; a substrate 10 having an aperture 11; a rear curtain 20B capable of opening and closing the aperture 11; a rear curtain driving lever 40B for driving the rear curtain 20B by holding an iron piece 46b to be attracted by the electromagnet 70B, the iron piece 46b being movable so as to be moved away from and brought into contact with the electromagnetic 70B, and being biased by a spring 54B so that the iron piece 46b is moved away from the electromagnet 70B; a pair of elastically deformable sandwiching sections 92b and 95b that supports the electromagnet 70B in a sandwiching manner; and a supporting plate 90 facing the substrate 10.
