<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable short total length and simplified structure of a needle selection plate for a knitting needle of a knitting machine. <P>SOLUTION: A needle selection plate 10 for a knitting needle 120 provided in a needle groove 110 of a needle bed 100 has an advancement surface 14 which is arranged to be perpendicular to the needle bottom 170 of the needle groove 110 and does not protrude from an armature surface 13.
