<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack-pinion type steering device capable of receiving various forces applied to a rack shaft by a rack guide. <P>SOLUTION: In this rack-pinion type steering device, the rack shaft 12 and a pinion shaft 24 are meshed in a gear housing 20, the rack guide 31 is slidably guided to the gear housing 20 in this meshing direction, a roller 38 for pressing the rack shaft 12 from the back is rotatably journaled to the rack guide 31, sliding parts 40 and 41 slidably abutting on the back of the rack shaft 12 on both sides of sandwiching the roller 38, are arranged in the rack guide 31, and the rack guide 31 is energized to the rack shaft 12 by a spring 34.
