<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promote power saving during printing. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes a sheet feeding unit, an image forming unit, a mechanism for delivering a sheet, a sheet sensor that detects front and rear ends of the sheet in a sheet delivery path, a sensor power for driving the sheet sensor, a detection unit for detecting a position of the sheet according to a position of the sheet sensor in the delivery path and a detection output from the sheet sensor, and a drive control unit that generates a timing signal showing a first detection period detecting the front end of the sheet and a timing signal showing a second detection period detecting the rear end of the sheet in accordance with the position of the sheet, turns the sensor power on during the first and second detection periods, and turns the sensor power off during periods except for each of the first and second detection periods. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
