摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and a program that smoothly perform a gradation-value transformation process adapted for an pixel edge status. <P>SOLUTION: Pixels of input image data are binarized by storing, in storage means, a blue noise mask BL having an arrangement of random threshold values having no regularity and a Bayer mask BY having an arrangement of threshold values having such regularity that differences at predetermined intervals serve as predetermined gradation values, and using threshold values of the blue noise mask BL for non-edge pixels among the pixels of the input image data, while using threshold values of the Bayer mask BY for edge pixels among the pixels of the input image data. This can prevent a binarization-caused pattern from appearing in portions other than the edge portions, and can prevent the degree of discreteness of a binarization result from being deviated in the edge portions. One set of threshold values in either mask is switched to another: there is no difference in technique for binarization between both masks.
