The method involves securing oysters i.e. young oysters, to a rigid element, where the rigid element is constituted of tube, a bar or a plate made of deformable material such as synthetic foam. An assembly of the oyster and the rigid element is enclosed in an openwork container (4) i.e. semi-rigid latticed pocket. The container containing the assembly is immersed in water by suspending the container using a cord (5). The container is detached from the cord after the oysters are matured. An independent claim is also included for an oyster breeding device comprising an openwork container.
