PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for restoring hidden characters and an image processor which accurately restores hidden characters.SOLUTION: In the method for restoring hidden characters, the image processor calculates an image block size in accordance with widths of strokes of target characters including hidden characters to be restored, and marks an original area in a target area of an input image including the target characters. The image processor generates reference image blocks having pixels of the original area as centers respectively, and extracts a boundary of a foreground of the input image to be complemented. The image processor calculates, for each pixel on the boundary of the foreground, complementation priorities in accordance with complexities of image blocks having the pixels on the boundary as centers respectively, and uses the most similar image block among the reference image blocks to complement an image block wherein the pixel having the highest priority is taken as the center. If the foreground has not been completely complemented, the image processor extracts the boundary of the foreground in the input image to be complemented. |
