The method involves disabling an input command by control units (2), so that write commands are suppressed on parameters of the control units, where the input command is provided with authentication procedure, by which person and/or a test equipment i.e. customer service inspection system, is authenticated. Additional write commands are suppressed on present measurement values and/or data in event memories. The input command is entered by an external input device over a diagnose interface (5) or an interface of the control devices. An independent claim is also included for a control device comprising an executing device for executing an authentication procedure.
