A driving simulator capable of producing pitch and roll movements includes a longitudinal base 1 and a pitch frame 2 which is connected to the base by a first pivotal connection which forms a pitch axis extending transverse to the base. The pitch axis can be adjusted longitudinally to change the balance point. A roll frame 3 carries a seat 4, a steering wheel 5, and foot pedals 6 and 7. The roll frame 3 is connected to the pitch frame 2 by a second pivotal connection which forms a roll axis. Roll control may be achieved by push rods, gears, or by means of control cables which are connected to opposite sides of the pitch frame and wound around a rotatable drum operated by the steering wheel 5. Pitch control is achieved by a further flexible cable which is connected to the base 1 and operated by the foot pedals 6, 7 to move the roll frame 3 and the pitch frame 2 about the pitch axis. |
