PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely extract information on a flare component from a shot image without using shooting condition data such as wavelength spectrum data of a bright point and imaging characteristic data of a shooting optical system.SOLUTION: An image processing method includes: a step of inputting a processing target image obtained by an imaging optical system; a step (S183) of estimating an ideal bright point image component included in an occurrence area of a flare in the processing target image; a step (S182) of extracting a real bright point image component including a flare component from the occurrence area; a step (S184) of and calculating a difference between the ideal bright point image component and the real bright point image component as an index of the flare component included in the occurrence area.
