PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brushless DC motor drive which can achieve powering operation and regenerative operation and freely controlling braking force and generated torque.SOLUTION: The drive includes an excitation sequence generator 21 which generates an excitation sequence based on the position information of a brushless DC motor 1, and a PWM signal generator 23 which generates the PWM signal proportional to a command voltage instruction. The brushless DC motor 1 is driven by synthesizing the excitation sequence generated by the excitation sequence generator 21 with the PWM signal from the PWM signal generator 23 to turn on/off a switching element in the switching element group 5-10. At braking, a braking force is generated by isolating a DC power source 3 from the switching element group 5-10, so that the induced voltage of the brushless DC motor 1 is consumed by the brushless DC motor 1 through the switching element group 5-10. |
