PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a sheet material for a holding sealer having great tensile strength with respect to a winding direction to an exhaust gas processing body and exhibiting excellent handleability when incorporated in an exhaust gas processing device. SOLUTION: The invention relates to the method of manufacturing the sheet material including inorganic fibers. The sheet material is formed by laminating precursors made of the inorganic fibers and being fired after at least a part thereof is subjected to needling processing.
