<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of a useless data stream, while suppressing power consumption in a switching hub. <P>SOLUTION: The switching hub 50 determines whether the packet is an IGMP packet, based on only a header of a packet received from the downstream side. When the packet is the IGMP packet, the switching hub executes the processing for notifying a router 60 of a port identifier of a port which receives the packet, and the processing for opening and closing a downstream side port according to instructions from the router 60. Alternatively, when notification of the port identifier is received, the router 60 is made to determine whether a packet relayed by a notification source of the port identifier is IGMP Join by referring to a payload part of the packet, and to execute processing for instructing opening and closing of the port to the switching hub at the notification source according to its determination results. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
