PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new antiseptic, especially the antiseptic expressing excellent antiseptic action when used for aqueous compositions such as an ophthalmic agent and the like, and an aqueous composition provided with excellent antiseptic action. SOLUTION: The antiseptic comprises (A) at least one of the compounds selected from diphenhydramine or salts of the same combined with (B) boric acid and/or a boric acid salt.
