PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To help a user to grasp an actual viewing time regarding recorded program data. SOLUTION: A recording and reproducing apparatus includes: a viewing time acquirer 6 which when program data stored in a record data memory 4 are reproduced, obtains and stores data of the program name and viewing time into a viewing data memory 7; and a reproducing device 5 which reproduces the program data stored in the record data memory 4 in accordance with a reproduction command, and based on viewing time data stored in the viewing data memory 7, predicts program data viewing time stored in the record data memory 4 in accordance with a command for presenting reproduction time and presents viewing prediction time to an output unit.
