PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system which is capable of not requiring any external power source such as a battery or the like, and a storage box equipped with the same. SOLUTION: The storage box 1 has a power generating section 51 that generates electric power by utilizing energy from a cover section 21 at the time of performing opening and closing thereof. Upon release of the locking mechanism of the cover section 21 and rotation of the cover section 21 in a releasing direction, the rotary shaft 51A of the power generating section 51 connected to the fixing sections 22 of the cover section 21 is made to be rotated. The utilization of energy at the time of rotation causes the power generating section 51 to generate electricity so as to obtain electric power. The electric power is supplied to illumination sections 61 through an electric storage circuit 52 so as to light the illumination sections 61. The generation of electric power allows for the regulation of the opening and closing operations of the cover section 21. Regulating energy conventionally consumed for a damper is converted by the power generating section 51 into electric power and can be used for the lighting of the illumination sections 61.
