PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress occurrence of hammering sound by preventing slackness of a transmission belt caused by reaction force, vibration or the like, in a tensioner with a rotary shaft urged in a constant rotating direction and a pressing body pressing the transmission belt screwed to advance the pressing body to a side of pushing the transmission belt according to the rotation of the rotary shaft in the rotating direction. SOLUTION: In this tensioner, movement of the pressing body 36 to a return side is restricted by a movement regulation means 60. The movement restriction means 60 is provided between a tensioner housing 35 and the rotary shaft 39 to restrict the rotation in a direction opposite to the rotating direction of the rotary shaft 39.
