PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain breakage of a permeable membrane which permeates a specific type of gas when pressure fluctuations occur between inside air and outside air, in an air conditioner for vehicle provided with the permeable membrane. SOLUTION: The air conditioner includes an outside air introduction port 32 for introducing outside air outside a cabin and an inside air introduction port 31 for introducing inside air inside the cabin; a casing 11 formed with blowing-off ports 19-21 for blowing off air-conditioning wind into the cabin; a permeable membrane 33a which is disposed at a boundary between outside air and inside air and permeates a specific type of gas between the outside air and inside air; an inside/outside air switching door 33 for opening and closing the outside air introduction port 32 or the outside air introduction port 31; vehicle stopping determination means for determining whether or not a vehicle is stopping; and permeable membrane protection control implementation means for implementing such permeable membrane protection control as to place the inside/outside air switching door 33 in an outside air introduction mode position for closing the inside air introduction port 31 by opening the outside air introduction port 32 when the vehicle stopping determination means determines that a vehicle is stopping.
