PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot-dip Al plating apparatus suitable for industrial mass production of a hot-dip Al-plated steel wire having a thick hot-dip Al plating layer at a surface of a steel wire with a fine diameter. SOLUTION: In the apparatus for manufacturing the hot-dip Al-plated steel wire, a steel wire 3 is continuously delivered in a longitudinal direction so as to be soaked in an Al plating bath 1 and is subsequently pulled up from a plating bath surface to a gas phase space. The apparatus is equipped with a gas discharging nozzle A for spraying a gas from the gas phase space side onto a portion of the plating bath surface, thereby forming a local dent on the plating bath surface. The spraying direction of the gas from the nozzle A is adjusted so that lowering of the bath surface at the dent part results in some difference in bath surface levels between both horizontal ends of the steel wire pulled up from the bath surface.
