PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engraving apparatus capable of eliminating a fault such as missing of dots without increasing the cost of the apparatus, and to provide a method for forming an engraved pattern, and a program. SOLUTION: The engraving apparatus includes an engraving head 30 having a plurality of engraving pins 33 arranged in predetermined positions, and using at least one of the engraving pins 33 to engrave an object 100 to be engraved. The engraving apparatus engraves the surface of the object 100, sequentially by the engraving head 30 to compose an engraved pattern of a plurality of engraved parts. The engraving apparatus includes an X motor 50X and a Y motor 50Y for moving the engraving head 30 to move the plurality of engraving pins 33 relative to the object 100, and a controller 11 controlling the X motor 50X and the Y motor 50Y so that the engraving pins 33 are located in the predetermined positions with respect to the object 100 and that each of dots composing the engraved pattern is engraved by at least two different engraving pins 33 of the engraving head 30.
