Vessel provided with a winch which is connected to a drive motor via a hydraulic coupling. A sensor is present which measures the force on the winch cable and reduces the forces transmitted by the drive motor via the coupling in case of overload in such a manner that overloading of any parts of the winch is prevented. This can be achieved by reducing the amount of hydraulic fluid between the rotors of the coupling and/or by changing the position of the lead vane. In this way, it is, for example, possible to not only compensate for heaving motions of a tugboat, but also for other unpredictable movements with respect to a towing vessel. The structure is preferably configured in such a manner that it is possible for the rotors of the hydraulic coupling to rotate in the opposite direction. |
