Disclosed is a relational information expansion device which is capable of acquiring new relationships based on existing relational information about two or more verbal expressions possessing a semantic relationship. The relational information expansion device comprises: a relational information storage unit (11) which stores relational information; a similarity information storage unit (12) which stores two or more pieces of similarity information about two or more similar verbal expressions; a candidate expanded relational information generation unit (13) which selects at least one verbal expression contained in the relational information and, using the similarity information, generates candidate expanded relational information with a similar expression substituted for the selected expression, and stores it in a candidate expanded relational information storage unit (14); a score acquisition unit (15) which acquires a score reflecting the probability that the candidate expanded relational information possesses a semantic relationship; and a selection unit (16) which uses the score to select candidate expanded relational information with a high score from among the candidate expanded relational information as expanded relational information.
