PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device of a passenger conveyor for improving safety, by preventing foreign matter from entering a handrail inlet part. SOLUTION: A handrail guard 8 having a pair of left-right sidewall parts 8b and an anti-handrail inlet part side end wall part 8c is arranged in a clearance between a renewal part of a handrail and a floor surface of an escalator getting-off place. Among its handrail guard 8, the upper end of the end wall part 8c is constituted of a rocking panel 9 rockable in the contacting-separating direction to a handrail outer peripheral surface 7b while opposing in close vicinity to the handrail outer peripheral surface 7b.
