PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of suppressing the occurrence of a blister phenomenon. SOLUTION: The fixing device is configured to make a first pressure member and a second pressure member pressurize each other or release the pressurized state between the first pressure member and the second pressure member in accordance with the moving timing of a paper. The fixing device includes: a movable member that moves integrally with the second pressure member in a retract position when releasing the pressurized state; an initial position return member that moves the second pressure member located in the retract position through the movable member, so that the second pressure member is moved toward the initial position where the second pressure member and the first pressure member pressurize each other; a spacing holding member disposed so as to engage/disengage with/from the second pressure member; and an elastic member that pressurizes the second pressure member against the first pressure member when releasing the engagement of the spacing holding member. The operational energy of the elastic member for moving the second pressure member to pressurize the first pressure member is applied through the position moving operation of the movable member.
