<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-efficiency electric motor having a polyhedrally shaped bulk amorphous metal plate piece layer. <P>SOLUTION: In the electric motor, at least one or more low-core-loss bulk amorphous metal magnetic members, including a plurality of substantially similar amorphous metal plate piece layers to form a three-dimensional shape part having a polyhedral shape are stuck to each other. The low-core-loss bulk amorphous metal magnetic member has an arcuate surface, preferably, includes two arcuate surfaces that are disposed oppositely to each other. The magnetic member is operable at excitation frequencies of about 50 kHz to about 20,000 Hz. When the electric motor is operated at a peak induction level B<SB>max</SB>, and at an exciting frequency "f", and when the core loss, the excitation frequency and the peak induction level are measured in watts per kg, Hertz and Tesla, respectively, the member has the core loss less than "L", wherein "L" is given by formula L=0.0074f(B<SB>max</SB>)<SP>1.3</SP>+f<SP>1.5</SP>0.000282f<SP>1.5</SP>(B<SB>max</SB>)<SP>2.4</SP>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
