The device has a controller (20) producing actuating signals (9a, 9b) based on pulse width-modulated (PWM) signals of alternators (3a, 3b). The PWM signals are provided at signal outputs (10a, 10b) of the alternators based on rotor speed of the alternators and/or electric power delivered by the alternators. A charging voltage of charging current is adjusted based on a control signal provided at signal inputs of the alternators. Exciting current of the alternators is adjusted based on the actuating signals. The actuating signal is transferred to magnetic couplings (19a, 19b) of the alternators. An independent claim is also included for a method for supplying electrical power to an electrical circuit of a motor vehicle.
