PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of carrying out an EVF (Electronic View Finder) display without providing a sense of incongruity to an operator by avoiding a rapid luminance change in the EVF display. SOLUTION: A flowchart for indicating an exposure control method includes: a step S102 of carrying out exposure after stop of EVF display update in S100; a step S103 of adding an exposure correction value to a present exposure value to carry out exposure revision; a step S104 of restarting update of the EVF display; a step S106 of extracting a luminance signal of an object to calculate a luminance difference between the level of the luminance signal and a proper luminance signal level; a step S107 of discriminating whether the luminance difference is within a proper range; a step S108 of revising the exposure when the luminance difference is not within the proper range; and a step S109 of updating the EVF display.
