PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adverse pressure gradient seal mechanism for leakage flow control in cavities involving variable speed surfaces. SOLUTION: The adverse pressure gradient seal mechanism (100) for use with variable speed components (110). The adverse pressure gradient seal mechanism (100) may include a number of labyrinth teeth (120) positioned on a component (110) and an adverse pressure gradient seal (130) positioned between a pair of the labyrinth teeth (120).
