PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing method for the continuous paper in which an image and a mark can be printed on a continuous paper at high speed without spoiling the print quality, and a printer. SOLUTION: The printer includes a paper feed mechanism 5 for feeding a continuous paper A, a head unit 21 mounting an inkjet head 22, an X-Y moving mechanism 23 for moving the head unit 21 in the main scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction, and a control means 7. The control means 7 controls the operation so that an image B is printed on the continuous paper A stopped on the paper feed route 4 by performing main scanning of the continuous paper A in the extending direction and sub-scanning thereof in the width direction, and then a mark C is printed on the continuous paper A by feeding the continuous paper A in the extending direction while fixing the inkjet head 22 after printing of the image B is completed.
