PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil tanker easy in change of ship category, having a ship structure suitable for crude oil tanks in the same way as a conventional dedicated ship, having a high work performance, and easy in change of the ship category to another one (for example, ore carrier or bulk carrier) in a short time with low cost. SOLUTION: The oil tanker is equipped with a plurality of center tanks 10a with smooth inner surfaces, provided in the central area, and partitioned from one another by transverse bulkheads; wing tanks 10b provided on both sides of the center tanks, with longitudinal bulkheads interposed; struts provided in the wing tanks, reinforcing the longitudinal bulkheads and transverse ribs (trans); and corrugated members provided on the transverse bulkheads, reinforcing the same. The struts and corrugated members are set in such a way that the hull strength required on a vessel after ship category change is secured and that the center tanks 10a can be used, without change, as holds of the vessel after ship category change.
