CONSENSUS/ANCESTRAL IMMUNOGEN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an immunogen for inducing antibodies that neutralize a wide spectrum of HIV primary isolates and/or an immunogen that induces a T cell immune response.

SOLUTION: There are provided: a method of inducing anti-HIV antibodies, and/or a method of inducing a T cell immune response, using such an immunogen which minimizes the degree of sequence dissimilarity between a vaccine strain and contemporary circulating viruses by creating consensus sequences of centralized HIV-1 genes, using a computer model; amino acid sequences of proteins comprising the consensus sequences to be the immunogen; and nucleic acid sequences encoding the proteins.
