PURPOSE: A method for detecting a proximity touch-down, a method for adjusting a head flying height using the same and disk drive are provided to adjust the head to a target flying height by exactly detecting the point in which a flying height of a head is arrived to a proximity touch-down state. CONSTITUTION: A head(16) includes a heater. A controller(430) produces variance profile of magnetic gap between the head and a disk according to a value change of a first signal adjusting a power supplied to the heater. The controller detects an amount of change of external force applied in the head and determines an access of a proximity touch-down flying height of the head. If the head is arrived to a proximity touch-down flying height, the controller determines a value of a first signal corresponding to a target flying height of the head from the variance profile based on the value of the first signal.
