PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reception device for intelligibly notifying a user about presence of incoming information, and a reception program. SOLUTION: This reception device includes: a user position detection part 36 for detecting a relative position of a user with respect to an image display device 12; an optical notification part 38 for performing notification by light emission; an audio notification part 40 for performing notification by audio output; an emission/deformation actuator 42 for performing notification by emission of a predetermined substance or physical deformation of the image display device 12; and a notification part selection means 70 corresponding to a selection part for selecting at least one of the optical notification part 38, the audio notification part 40 and the emission/deformation actuator 42 as a notification part for notifying that information has been received from a communication object based on the detection result by the user position detection part 36 from a predetermined relationship, and can thereby appropriately select an optimum notification form in response to the relative position of the user with respect to the image display device 12.
