<p>A projection type display apparatus having a long-life light source device with high light utilization efficiency includes first and second light source lamps 11 and 12; a light intensity equalizing element 15; first and second bending mirrors 13 and 14; an image display element 61 modulating a light flux L3 emitted from the light intensity equalizing element 15 and converting it into image light L4; and a projection optical system 62 projecting the image light on a screen 63; and the first light source lamp 11, the second light source lamp 12, the first bending mirror 13 and the second bending mirror 14 are arranged so that a first optical axis 11c of the first light source lamp 11 disagrees with a second optical axis 12c of the second light source lamp 12 and a first distance between the first bending mirror 13 and an incidence end 15a differs from a second distance between the second bending mirror 14 and the incidence end 15a.</p> |
