PURPOSE: A bearing breakage detection system and method are provided to detect whether or not a bearing is through a non-destructive method without disassembling a low-speed rotating instrument. CONSTITUTION: A bearing breakage detection method is as follows. A sound sensor collects acoustic signals(S101). A signal amplification part amplifies the collected acoustic signal(S102). An AD converter converts the acoustic signal into a digital signal. Noise is removed from the digital signal(S103). RMStotal value about the acoustic signal from which the noise has been removed is calculated. Only a damage acoustic signal which is generated when the bearing is damaged is extracted to calculate RMSdefect value about the damage acoustic signal(S104). The rate of the RMSdefect value to the RMStotal value is calculated(S105,S106,S107). A signal processing analysis section determines that the bearing is damaged if the RMS ratio is higher than a set value(S108).
