<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation detector having a phosphor layer whose ends hardly chip off. <P>SOLUTION: The radiation detector 10 includes: the phosphor layer 4 provided on the active area 2 of a substrate 3 having the active area 2 where a plurality of photoelectric conversion elements 1 are arranged side by side; and taper portions 7 having first inclined planes 7a formed at both ends of the vertical-direction cross section of the phosphor layer 4.
