<p>A personal identification device and method prevent the reduction in the finger vein recognition rate which otherwise occur due to erroneous insertion of a finger (1) by a user not accustomed to operation or insertion of a false finger (1) at low cost. The device includes an imager (2) picking up an image of a finger vein pattern, a light source (3) emitting light adapted to be transmitted through the finger (1), an image operating unit (11) matches the image, guides (4, 5) indicating the position of picking up the finger image, a detector (20) detecting the contact between the finger (1) and the guides (4, 5), another light source (22) radiating light reflected from the thick of the finger (1), a switch (8) which is depressed by the forward end of the finger (1), a further light source (3) emitting light transmitted through the forward end of the finger (1), and a light-sensor (50) receiving the light from the further light source (3) through the finger (1). <IMAGE></p> |
