A method of making a shaped article of heatsoftenable synthetic cellular material, e.g. polyurethane foam, consists of preparing a rough blank whose volume envelops that of the desired article and placing in a mould heated to the materials softening temperature. The rough blank may consist of two or more blocks of foam bonded with adhesive and the blocks may be of different cellular materials. An electrically heated mould may be used and examples of softening temperatures between 200‹ C. and 280‹ C. are given. |
