PURPOSE: A method for data replication and recovery in an asymmetric cluster distributed file system is provided to efficiently process chunk replication and recovery by separating and managing a main chunk and a sub chunk. CONSTITUTION: A first data server comprises a main partition having a main chunk. A second data server comprises a sub partition having a sub chunk corresponding to the main chunk. The first data server stores the data received from client in the main chunk(S26). The first data server stores and transmits the data stored in the main chunk to the second data server(S46). The second data server replicates the received data in the sub chunk(S48).
