The invention relates to a turning device comprising a load arm (5) including a pulley block (6) for lifting and positioning parts to be welded to another long part which is placed on a support (7) provided on the corresponding lower frame (1) of the turning device. The lower frame comprises wheels (2) that travel along rails and a belt (13) that moves on wheels (14), two of which are mounted to upper rocker arms (16) actuated by hydraulic cylinders (15) in order to lift the belt together with the long part, thereby rotating said long part so that it can be positioned correctly and the other parts can be welded thereto. The turner is operated in an automatic and controlled manner and the system operator is fully protected.
