The cooker has inductors (4) arranged in a matrix-form, and a touch-sensitive operating device (5) arranged adjacent to a front side of a cooker plate (2). Electrical components (5a-5c) of the operating device are shielded against electromagnetic fields by using a shielding device (8), where the fields are produced during the operation of the inductors. The shielding device is arranged between the inductors and the electrical components and made from aluminum. The shielding device is attached to a lower side of the cooker plate, and has a plate-shaped shielding frame (9). An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an induction cooker.
