The method involves moving a sample table (2) and a receiving unit (5) relative to each other. Relative positioning of the table and receiving unit is measured or is adjusted using an adjusting module (8). Images of different and partially overlapping sub areas of a sample i.e. medical sample, are recorded by a recording unit during calibration process and received with an enlargement of a projection lens. The recording unit is calibrated for adjusted enlargement based on the received images and the measured positioning or control values of a control module during recording of the images. An independent claim is also included for a microscope comprising a sample table.
