A method for optimizing a marine survey design comprises: generating (410) a cross line aperture for one or more multiple reflections; comparing (430) the cross line aperture with a previous cross line aperture; and modifying (440) one or more data acquisition geometry based on a result of the comparison between the cross line aperture with the previous cross line aperture.
