<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide photographic sensitive material giving high image quality and high image density, having high safety to safelight, and capable of reproducing a faithful image pattern; and to provide an image forming method. <P>SOLUTION: The silver halide photographic sensitive material has on a support at least one silver halide emulsion layer and at least one non-photosensitive hydrophilic colloidal layer, wherein the support is a glass support; a silver halide emulsion in the silver halide emulsion layer is a silver iodobromide emulsion containing a rhodium compound and having substantially no spectral sensitivity at ≥500 nm; silver halide particles in the silver halide emulsion have an average particle size of 0.02-0.07 μm; and at least one dye having a maximum absorption wavelength of 400-500 nm is contained in the silver halide emulsion layer or the non-photosensitive hydrophilic colloidal layer.
